Question: 

I’m looking to get some information on the below two fishing rods .Right now I’m using a Gen 1 Salt X Rod.

How much of a difference is there in the 10’ Fast vs9’6 moderate in terms of Power and action?

I’m primary a sand beach guy with some trips to Montauk thrown in during the season . I throw plugs / buck tails and soft plastics.

*Striped Bass Special Surf 10’ (1 - 6 oz.) FAST Rod

vs. 

*Striped Bass Special Surf 9’6” (1 - 6 oz.) MODERATE Rod

The 9’6 Striped Bass Special is more moderate/ fast action than the 10’ in my opinion.

I use the 9’6 for everything you are describing and LOVE it. It’s great for the surf.

The 9’6 has more of a backbone and is a little stiffer which I like for buck tails.
