  • 7'9" Challenger Bank 791UL Spinning Rod
  • 7' Challenger Bank 701L Spinning Rod
  • 6'8" Charter Special Slow Pitch 68/H3R Spinning Rod & Shimano 4000 size reel with 30 / 40 lb. braid.
  • 6'8" Charter Special Slow Pitch 68/H3R Conventional Rod & Accurate 270 / 400 size reel with 40 lb braid.
  • "Tautog... Early season we use jigs 99% of the time. I'm a fan of the Challenger Bank Ultra Light and Light spinning rods. They both wear a Shimano 4000 size reel with a 30 / 40 lb braid. I also have caught well using the Charter Special 68/H3R with the same reel. The challenger Bank can detect all the softest bites when the fish are a bit shy. And all the above rods have the backbone to drive a hook through those leather lips and lift those fish away from the structure."
  • "Conventional for rigs... Hands down the Charter Special 68/H3R conventional with an Accurate 270 / 400 size reel. 40 lb braid. The perfect balance of lightweight and power to fish all day and still haul the biggest of tog out of the rock pile they hide in."
